Welcome to Shawbirch Road

Northern Trust is working with the landowner to regenerate the former Sugar Beet Plant at Allscott near Telford.

The team hopes to regenerate approximately 100 acres of the former heavy industrial site and substantially enhance the quality and attractiveness of the area whilst introducing opportunities for the rural economy.

The Sugar Beet Plant closed in 2007 following more than 80 years of operation. At its peak the facility processed more than 6,000 tonnes of sugar beet each day. In addition to staff and agricultural vehicles the site generated 800 HGV deliveries each day. Further information on the site can be found by visiting the Background page.

Following extensive community consultation Northern Trust has submitted an outline planning application to Telford & Wrekin Borough Council for the Shawbirch Road scheme. Telford & Wrekin Borough Council will now consult local residents for their views on the proposals before deciding whether or not to grant planning permission.

Northern Trust is committed to the regeneration of the site and the provision of a high quality development at Allscott which is appropriate to the surrounding area and will attract future growth and investment. Working alongside the Council, local community and key stakeholders, there is an opportunity to transform this extensive brownfield site to create a new sustainable community which can develop as an integrated place within the rural economy.
